We are pleased to advise you of recent staff changes as follows:

Effective from 1st July Ross Pearson will assume the position of full-time Club Manager.

With our highest ever golf membership (650) and a £600,000 turnover your directors believe that now is the time to professionalise the club’s management and are delighted that Ross, a chartered accountant and our current finance manager/club administrator, has accepted the position as our first ever professional Club Manager.

The primary purpose of this role is to support the club’s voluntary directors and club officials in the management of the club’s day-to-day operations. Full details of Ross’s role and responsibilities will follow in due course but in the interim we trust that all members will give Ross their full support during the transition process.

We are delighted to welcome back Dave Mortimer in the above role effective from today.

This means that the club will now be able to take back in house the catering of the majority of functions and events, visiting parties and team meals etc. The catering for larger events will remain with Malvern Events,

This week the club welcomes two new apprentice green-keepers, initially for a one-week trial period. We very much hope that following this short trial period both Danny Thompson and Ollie Spink will join us as full-time apprentices, taking our total number of green staff to five.

Contrary to rumour Sharlene has NOT left us. Sharlene has been a casual worker for the club for almost 2 years during which time she has regularly been offered weekend hours.

However given the return of Dave Mortimer as above and the recent recruitment of new bar staff requiring a minimum number of hours per week we are currently unable to offer Sharlene any weekend hours.

However, we are all aware that staffing in the hospitality industry at present is very challenging and circumstances can change at short notice. Sharlene remains on our list of casual workers and will be offered weekend hours as and when required.

Finally, your directors are members of the club just like you and have assumed their positions in a desire to help the club’s continued growth and development.

This comes with the knowledge that managing a business of increasing size and complexity sometimes means charting a new direction or making difficult decisions. All these are made with the best interest of the club at heart and the directors look forward to your continuing support.

Peter Knowles
Club Secretary (for and on behalf of your directors)
